Female genital mutilation (FGM) is the practice of genitals being deliberately cut, injured or changed for no medical reason. Girls between infancy and 15 years of age are the victims. It is painful and many suffer lifelong problems with sex, childbirth and mental health. “It is a long-standing ritual in our culture” say its defenders. So was drowning
witches and we stopped that many years ago. This is nothing less than a barbaric assault on vulnerable young girls with potentially severe effects on mind and body. It has to stop and we can help now.
